Shoppers Stop’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Venugopal G. Nair, has submitted his resignation, effective from the close of business hours on 31 August 2023, citing personal reasons. The company officially announced his departure on Thursday.
The board of directors has accepted Nair’s resignation, acknowledging his desire to dedicate more time to his family and explore new opportunities outside the organisation.
Nair played a pivotal role in fortifying Shoppers Stop’s business during the post-covid period, contributing to the growth of its strategic pillars in the realms of fashion, beauty, and retail network expansion. The company’s press release praised Nair’s significant contributions and the advancements he brought to Shoppers Stop.
The company has elevated Kavindra Mishra, who serves as the Chief Commercial Officer and CEO of Homestop, to the position of Executive Director & CEO. Mishra’s term will commence on 1 September 2023 and extend for a period of three years.
Mishra’s appointment brings a wealth of industry experience to Shoppers Stop. His background includes serving as the Managing Director and CEO of House of Anita Dongre, which encompasses well-known brands like AND, Anita Dongre, and Global Desi.
Furthermore, Mishra’s tenure includes a six-year period as the Managing Director of Pepe Jeans India, during which he adeptly oversaw the transformation of the company from a joint venture to a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pepe Jeans Global.
