Men Leads Mother’s Day Purchases With Over 57% Of Orders: IGP Survey

IGP, a direct-to-consumer (D2C) gifting site, has unveiled a 72 per cent year-on-year (YoY) growth in gifting on Mother’s Day, according to its latest data analysis.

The findings also highlight the increasing significance of small cities in celebrating this special occasion, accounting for 48 per cent of all Mother’s Day gifts.

The analysis, covering data from the past five years (2018-2022), conducted by IGP, flowers and cakes emerged as the most popular categories of gifts ordered for Mother’s Day.

Additionally, the data revealed that men were at the forefront of Mother’s Day purchases, representing over 57 per cent of all orders.

Among the top five cities contributing to Mother’s Day gifting, Delhi NCR secured the lead, followed by Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai.

“We are particularly excited about the surge in orders from small cities, which underscores the importance of reaching beyond metro cities and target customers in all parts of the country,” said Tarun Joshi, Founder & CEO, IGP.

The increasing popularity of Mother’s Day and gifting in India can be attributed to the influence of Western culture and the exposure to global trends through media and social networks.

The survey highlights the evolving gifting trends, the growing importance of small cities, and the continued success of IGP in delivering happiness through the joy of gifting.
