Increased Demand During Festive Season Puts Pressure On Supply Chain, Workforce: PP Jewellers

The festive season is an exciting time for retailers, especially for those in the jewellery industry, given the rise in demand by festive enthusiasm and an uptick in weddings. This combination of events makes a lively and special time for jewellery retailers.
However, with great opportunities, it also brings challenges to the jewellers.
“Increased demand is a great opportunity, but it also puts pressure on our supply chain and workforce,” Pawan Gupta, director at PP Jewellers by Pawan Gupta told BW Retail World.
Managing inventory and ensuring timely deliveries can be challenging, he said.
Gupta agreed that the festive season indeed offers an excellent platform for promotions and new collections, enabling them to connect with its customers in a meaningful way.
While talking about consumer behaviour during festive seasons, he said, “We observe that consumers seek jewellery that reflects their cultural and traditional values.”
To meet these expectations, they curate collections inspired by regional and cultural diversity.
They also offer a range of price points to accommodate various customer preferences.
In response to evolving industry and consumer expectations, Gupta finds the adoption of digital technology in jewellery design and manufacturing to be particularly exciting.
“Personalised and customisable jewellery options are gaining popularity, and we believe these trends will have a significant impact in the near future,” he stated.
In terms of the company’s plans, its primary focus is on expanding its footprint domestically this year.
“We aim to open new stores in key cities across India while also exploring opportunities in select international markets,” Gupta highlighted.
The company is currently targeting regions with a growing urban population and a strong affinity for jewellery. According to Gupta, these regions often provide them with a competitive advantage. Furthermore, they consider the local culture and traditions, which significantly influence its decisions regarding expansion.
