Kedar Ravangave, Head Brand & Category Marketing, Amazon has been added to the prestigious list of ‘BW Retail World 40 under 40’ by BW Businessworld.
Ravangave is a marketing professional with over a decade of experience in the industry. He was rated as the best Management Trainee at Marico, where he started his career in 2010.
As one of the earliest marketing hires at Amazon, he was involved in setting up the marketing function from ground up. During his time at Amazon, he has been instrumental in launching the Amazon Exclusives program (now called Specials), which helped break Flipkart’s monopoly on online smartphone sales.
He also led marketing for the biggest sales event for Amazon, The Great Indian Festival, and designed the marketing playbook for it.
Ravangave has built tools and dashboards for driving automation and keeping the marketing team lean. He has also helped build a production hub to make video assets at scale.
He worked with Global Amazon Prime teams to decentralise the brand approach in India for Prime, taking into account the different consumer behaviour in the country.
For Amazon Fashion, he pioneered a mid-funnel marketing playbook for influencer engagement and ground-up creation of a digital IP (Amazon Fashion Up).
For Amazon Pay, he initiated Merchant Marketing and Performance Marketing, led a digital first marketing approach encompassing audience data strategy, 3rd Party app partnerships and personalization.
In the last year, for Grocery, in light of fluctuating service-levels and business needs, Kedar drove strategic pivots, pausing marketing investments, redesigning GTMs & recalibrating investments for brand v/s events.
