Colgate-Palmolive (India) has unveiled its second comprehensive environmental, social, and governance (ESG) report. The report underscores the company’s aim to instigate positive transformations through innovative, responsible, and all-encompassing practices, aligned with its 2025 objectives, including achieving 100 per cent water and plastic neutrality across packaging and industrial sites.

Colgate-Palmolive India’s strategic approach hinges on sustainable innovation, a principle that materialises into environmental stewardship, social impact, and governance excellence at its core. The organisation has meticulously charted a course to realise its 2025 aspirations, outlined through well-defined actions accompanied by measurable targets. These initiatives are meticulously designed to contribute to the creation of a more sustainable future.

Key highlights from the FY23 ESG report
Plastic Waste Reduction: Colgate-Palmolive India has achieved an 80 per cent reduction in plastic waste through ingenious solutions like the KEEP toothbrush, which boasts a reusable metal handle. The company stands out as a pioneer among Asia’s oral care brands, achieving an extraordinary 120 per cent plastic neutrality in India, marking a substantial reduction in plastic waste.

Sustainable Packaging: With an ardent emphasis on environmental preservation, Colgate-Palmolive India ensures that a substantial 80 per cent of the weight-based packaging (both primary and secondary) across its four plants is recyclable. This resolute commitment aims to minimise the ecological footprint by embracing sustainable packaging practices.

Water Conservation: Colgate-Palmolive India’s water-positive facilities in Goa and Sri City have played a pivotal role in conserving water resources. The company’s initiatives have led to the replenishment of over 350 million litres of water in Rajasthan and Maharashtra through various projects, contributing significantly to a more sustainable water future.

Community Empowerment: The company’s initiatives have left an indelible impact on communities across India. Through collaborative programmes, Colgate-Palmolive India has empowered over 20,000 women with digital and financial literacy skills, enabling them to pursue enhanced livelihoods and economic independence. The impactful Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures initiative has touched the lives of 171 million children.

Gender Diversity: Enforcing an inclusive ethos, Colgate-Palmolive India has achieved a commendable 25 per cent gender diversity within its workforce and an impressive 50 per cent representation on its board. This achievement underscores the company’s commitment to fostering equality and empowering women, setting a strong example for inclusivity and diversity.
