Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy released Rs 123.52 crore under the YSR Matsyakara Bharosa scheme as assistance for marine fishing ban period from 15 April to 14 June 2023 at a public function in Bapatla District on Tuesday. The funds will benefit 1,23,519 fishermen families across the state.
As per the scheme, an amount of Rs 10,000 each would be credited directly into their bank accounts. Additionally, the Chief Minister released Rs 107.91 crore funds for 23,458 fishermen families who lost their livelihood due to ONGC pipeline works in Konaseema and Kakinada districts. He also laid the foundation stone for Rs 417 crore Nizampatnam fishing harbour project.
Addressing the gathering, the CM confirmed that so far, each fisherman family had received Rs 50,000 in the last four years under the YSR Matsyakara Bharosa. “I appeal to you to remember that this government will continue to invest in human capital and work for your welfare,” he said.
He took this moment to also attack the opposition parties for trying to forge an alliance for selfish reasons. He warned the public to be wary of the TDP and JanaSena Party as they were trying to deceive people with lies and accused them of match-fixing an alliance with the BJP, Congress and CPI, as they failed to fight him individually and were desperate to come to power.
