Amazon, a ecommerce platform, has announced its plan to surpass USD 8 billion in cumulative exports from India by the end of 2023. Since the inception of its Amazon Global Selling program, the company has successfully onboarded 125,000 exporters. Remarkably, more than 1,200 of these exporters achieved sales exceeding Rs 1 crore in 2022.

Bhupen Wakankar, Director of Global Trade at Amazon India, expressed his belief in the immense potential of the marketplace. He stated that Indian ecommerce exporters are following the footsteps of sellers from the US and China, propelling the global expansion of Indian products.

In terms of regional distribution, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh emerged as the top contributors to the export market in 2022. Among various product categories, toys experienced the highest growth rate, surpassing 50 per cent year-on-year. Kitchenware, beauty products, and luggage followed suit with growth rates exceeding 35 per cent, 25 per cent, and 20 per cent respectively.
