Apple Aims To Increasing India Production Share To Up To 25%: Piyush Goyal

Apple wants India to account for up to 25 per cent of its output, up from 5 per cent-7 per cent, according to the commerce minister, as the iPhone manufacturer continues to shift production away from China.

Piyush Goyal touted India as a competitive manufacturing site, citing Apple as another success example.

Apple already manufactures roughly 5-7 per cent of their products in India. The corporation intends to increase its manufacturing by 25 per cent. According to him, the company released the most recent models from India, which were built in India.

According to News Agency Reuters, Foxconn wants to triple the workforce at its iPhone production in India over the next two years.

The Indian electronics and information technology minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, tweeted on Monday that Apple’s exports from India had reached USD 1 billion in December.

Apple’s ambitions to relocate manufacturing overseas have been impacted by China’s Covid-related lockdowns and restrictions, as well as escalating economic and geopolitical tensions between Beijing and Washington.

According to J.P.Morgan analysts, a quarter of all Apple goods will be manufactured outside of China by 2025, up from 5 per cent today.
