PUMA has announced the appointment of Karthik Balagopalan as the new Managing Director of PUMA India and he is set to lead PUMA’s operations in the country.
Balagopalan has been with PUMA since 2006, he has held various management positions within the company, including Retail operations and Business Development at PUMA India.
In his new role, he will report directly to PUMA CEO Arne Freundt and will be based in Bangalore, India.
His appointment comes as he replaces Abhishek Ganguly, who has been a part of PUMA’s Indian business for 17 years. Ganguly has served as the Managing Director of PUMA India since 2014, however, he has now decided to embark on a new entrepreneurial venture, stepping down from his current position at PUMA.
“India is a vibrant market, where PUMA has been the No. 1 brand for many years. With the appointment of Karthik, we will write the next chapter of this very successful story,” stated PUMA CEO.
Balagopalan is set to assume his role as Managing Director of PUMA India on 1 August 2023. To ensure a smooth transition, Ganguly will continue to support the company until the end of August.
