Swiggy , a leading food delivery app in India, backed by the global internet group Prosus.
The company recently launched a premium grocery delivery program called Handpicked, which was operating in some parts of Bangalore. However, for some reason, the program has been discontinued by the company.
The positive takeaway from this is that Swiggy has confirmed that no person or job has been affected by this decision. The company’s spokesperson said during a media interview that they continuously experiment with new proposals to provide a more comfortable experience for their customers.
The Handpicked program was launched in some parts of Bangalore, and it has provided Swiggy with a lot of positive learning.
Some media reports claimed that the company had started charging a platform fee of 2 rupees for food delivery in cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
According to Swiggy, this fee was only applied to food orders, and no such fee was seen on Swiggy’s quick-commerce vertical, Instamart and they aim to make their platform better with this fee.
