Swagat Sarangi: Driving Innovation In D2C Industry

Swagat Sarangi, the Co-founder of Smytten, has been named to the prestigious list of ‘BW Retail World 40 under 40’ by BW Businessworld. Sarangi.

He holds an engineering degree from BITS Pilani and an MBA from the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad, has had a successful 15+ year career working with top organisations like Unilever, McKinsey&Co, and Google.

After achieving high levels of success in his corporate career, Sarangi founded Smytten, a unique product sampling platform that allows users to try products before they purchase them from the comfort of their own homes. 

He managed all aspects of product UX, development, marketing, and brand partnerships with a lean team of just 15 members in the early stages of the company.

Sarangi also successfully raised over USD 25 million in capital from top venture capital firms like Fireside Venture, Roots Ventures & Sharrp Ventures. 

He has been instrumental in establishing market leadership and leading the growth of Smytten to a 200+ strong team.

Before founding Smytten, Sarangi played a key role in modern trade retail entry and expansion in India as part of the Unilever Modern Trade Team. He was responsible for driving many key innovations in the industry, such as On-Shelf Availability Improvement and Shelf Planogramming.

Sarangi also spearheaded numerous large-scale initiatives as part of Google to promote e-commerce retailing and drive adoption and growth in India. Under his leadership, Smytten has achieved a YoY growth trajectory with a current 200Cr+ ARR business.

Smytten has a highly efficient and ROI-driven marketing strategy for user acquisition split across Organic, Referral, Digital Marketing & Co-marketing channels. The company is known for its USP of product sampling and experience before buying, which provides a superior end-user experience.
